Student Clubs

Students in the Biological Sciences Department can gain career related experience by participating in student organizations:

American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is a pre-health professions society for students planning careers in health care fields.

American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Pre-Dental Club educates and prepares students about the field of dentistry and various aspects of the dental profession.

Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) is an honorary and professional society for students of the biological sciences. Activities are designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment and investigation in the biological sciences. Tri-Beta is a national society affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of the Sciences.

Wildlife Club members share an interest and concern for the environment. Activities are geared toward developing a realistic approach to solving problems involving animals and their habitats.

The Biotechnology Club educates members about the wide application of biotechnology in industrial, medical, and agricultural fields. Club activities consist mostly of listening to guest speakers from the biotechnology industry and getting hands on experience by touring their facilities.

Health Professions Clubs are a great way to meet students who are on the same career path. Clubs hold regular meetings and frequently offer special activities including graduate school visits, guest speakers, social activities, and more.

Student Club Fund

The Biological Sciences Department Student Fund is available to clubs for special events or projects that benefit students in the department. The maximum funding available per event or project is $250. Clubs are limited to one request for funding per academic year although exceptions may be considered depending upong fund availablity. Please refer to the guidelines for requesting funds.
