Undergraduate Program: Academic Offerings

The department offers complete undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Sciences and Microbiology, and minors in Biology and Microbiology. A minor in Biotechnology is offered through the College of Science and Mathematics. A minor in GIS and a minor in land rehabilitation are offered through the Department of Agriculture. Biological Sciences Major

With the curricular concentrations described below, this degree offers students a broad education in biology from molecules to ecosystems. It is suitable for preprofessional preparation in the biomedical fields, teaching, technical competency in the concentrations offered, certification as an Associate Ecologist, Fisheries Biologist, or Associate Wildlife Biologist, or as a base for work toward postbaccalaureate studies.

Microbiology Major

Cal Poly is one of the few California State University or University of California universities offering a laboratory-intensive Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.
