I am broadly interested in applied physiology and comparative physiology of vertebrates, including thermal physiology, metabolic rate, and cardiovascular, muscle, and exercise physiology. Past research projects have included studies on tunas and other scombrid fishes, cardiac shunting in crocodilians, hypergravity exercise training in humans, interactions of ethanol and exercise in rodents, and physiological effects of high-fat diets. Current projects focus on muscle plasticity in non-mammalian vertebrates and physiology education.
